We use Windows Azure to deliver solutions for our customers using their global datacentres with up to 99.95% monthly SLA.
Windows Azure enables us to focus on what’s special about your application or business process. With Windows Azure we can quickly build, deploy and manage your application across a global network of Microsoft-managed datacentres.
What is Windows Azure?
The Windows Azure Platform is a set of services and technologies that enable you to easily benefit from the scalability and agility of Cloud Computing.
With the Windows Azure Platform you can store data and build and connect applications in the cloud in much the same way you currently do ‘on-premises’.
What can I do on Windows Azure?
Just as with traditional ‘on-premise’ servers, you can run any type of application on the Windows Azure Platform - an accounting system, line of business application, a website – whatever.
If your application needs it, it can also connect to a database with SQL Azure - the specialist cloud edition of the Microsoft SQL Server relational database, just as you do with traditional on-premise applications, but without the need for a dedicated database server.
Specialist services required to run your application may also be required - Access Control, Security, Networking etc. All of these are taken care of with Azure.
Why use Windows Azure and the cloud?
Windows Azure provides the application, database and specialised services without you and your team having to handle the day-to-day configuration, management and patching of the hardware and operating system.
The Windows Azure Platform runs in a network of expertly managed data centres that allow your application to grow easily and without complex additional coding and planning purchases to handle growth. You pay for the services you use, as and when you need them.
Windows Azure to extend your world
Windows Azure is not an ‘all or nothing’ proposition. Utilising Windows Azure Service Bus, you can use Azure to extend your existing on-premise applications to use the power of The Cloud, for example:
- Provide cloud-based access to your on-premise applications to benefit from better integration with your clients, partners and supply chain
- Tightly integrate a web-based portal with on-premise business processes, such as order management and payments
- Use Azure’s scalability to provide cloud delivery of large files or handle peak-loads without the cost of extending your data centre or upgrading your Internet connection
You can utilise the Windows Azure Platform to deliver cloud benefits where they’re appropriate, integrated with your existing on-premise applications.
